Dear Juhani:

I am writing to express an interest in using some of your wildlife images, specifically bird photographs, for educational purposes. I am a professor in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Oregon State University and our department is in the process of developing a distance education class titled The Biology of Birds. The class is a Junior/Senior level undergraduate course that is designed to introduce students to the adaptations of birds within a diverse array of habitats. Topics include origins, anatomy, reproductive strategies, migration, flight, behavior, physiology, nutrition, and conservation.

As was mentioned above, the class will be Distance Education. Prices for our publication (videotaped lectures) are set on a non-profit, non-commercial, cost-recovery basis. The tapes are strictly intended for the purpose of education only.

I am interested in using some of your images in these video lectures. In other words, we are soliciting for a great number of photos, images, slides etc. that represent each family of birds to use on the educational tapes. Is it possible to use some of the images that you currently have on your website for this purpose? If so, what is your policy? The University will include copyright information on each individual photograph and again on a credit page included at the end of each videotaped lecture series. I look forward to hearing from you about the possibility of using your images. Please reach my teaching assistant, Dawn Harris, for the class by e-mail at or reach me by phone at (541) 737-1956 if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your time and consideration of this request.

Dr. Robert Jarvis
Professor of Wildlife Ecology

I have discussed Your request with Hannu Ekblom, and we have no objections for the use of our photographs as described in Your request.
As for the use of Hannu Hautala's pictures - You must get a permission directly from him.

I'm an ex Sproat Laker and would love a wallpaper of the Waterbomber. I'm
not sure what mailware is so can you tell me if there is a charge?

I will look forward to hearing from you.

As a photographer I just want to know what is liked by others!
